Habitat loss skyrockets

Habitat loss is one of the most significant drivers of biodiversity decline and extinctions worldwide. Natural habitats have been destroyed, fragmented and modified global wide. This process is resulting in widespread changes to the distribution and abundance of native plants and animals.

Australia is heavily impacted by this trend. There are very few native environments in Australia that have not been affected by human activities. Much of the land is affected by some form of land degradation. In many places, particularly in urban and agricultural areas, only isolated remnants of habitat remain. These are often under considerable stress from human activities such as bush rock removal to decorate gardens, clearing of native vegetation, removal of dead wood, etc.

Dramatic destruction of biodiversity is not only threat in Australia but reality in several European countries as well. Extractive uses and exploitation of resources happening in Romania, Poland,  Slovakia and Ukraine and other European countries.
