Vlado Vancura, Director Wilderness Development, based in Slovakia
Vlado Vancura – graduated at Forest University and Natural Resources Management, Zvolen, Slovakia and collected vast experience with wilderness and natural resources management in the following 30 years. He experienced various jobs as a full time or seasonal or volunteer or free lance consultant in Slovakia, Russia, Hungary, U.S. National Park Service or Parks Canada.
His passion for wilderness conservation lead him from demanding field experience to the team of people working on European Wilderness Agenda and he was involved to the process of developing the European wilderness definition, European Wilderness Registry and participated at the setting up the European Wilderness Preservation System.
Vlado’s passion for wilderness, and particularly European wilderness, is underlined by his skills and enthusiasm to communicate with various groups and stakeholders to motivate them to contribute to the protection of European Wilderness Heritage and encourage them to become a Wilderness Advocate.
Vlado used to work for Tatra NP, Slovakia, PAN Parks Foundation, Hungary and now is the Director Wilderness Development of the European Wilderness Society, Austria.
