The European Wilderness Society is happy to announce that it is looking for two new Interreg Volunteer Youth volunteers! They will be able to work with us for 6 months starting earliest in March on two Interreg projects, namely BEECH POWER and Centralparks. If you are interested, please apply by the 24th of February.
By working on BEECH POWER, you will have a chance to contribute to a transnational project aiming for better conservation of UNESCO World Heritage Beech Forests. Partners from 5 different countries are working together to improve the management quality and effectiveness of these sites.
The internship we offer with the Interreg Centralparks project will be an opportunity to focus on the conservation of the protected areas in the Carpathians, one of the most important wildlife refuges in Europe. The transnational project focuses on building capacities of the management of the protected area for the harmonization of biodiversity protection and local socio-economic development.
Are you wild enough?
We are looking for someone between 18 and 30 years old who is highly interested in either of the two projects. In addition, the volunteer needs to have excellent English skills to work in our international team. Starting from March, your home will be in Tamsweg in the beautiful UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Lungau for 6 months. To learn more about the life in Lungau, read about the adventures of the current volunteers here.
You will have a chance to take part in the following activities:
- assisting the project team with project communication (online materials)
- assistance to the project management
- taking part in project event organisation
- joining project events and field trips
- photo documentation of field activities
In addition, you will:
- have multiple learning opportunities on professional and personal level
- join the European Wilderness Society team on field trips
- get deeply involved in the network of nature conservation in Europe
The volunteers will receive €28 per day for the duration of the project through the IVY initiative. More information about it is available on the Interreg Youth website.
