Come to track wildlife with us at Pokljuka, Slovenia

Together with Dinaricum Society and Triglav National Park, the European Wilderness Society is organising a wildlife tracking event. Join us this Saturday, 15th February at Pokljuka!

The wildlife tracking will be a citizens engagement activity, supported by the Interreg Volunteer Youth Initiative. The participants will meet in the Triglav National Park Infocentre in Bled (Ljubljanska cesta 27) at 9am. The event will begin with an introduction of the three organising institutions, followed by presentations about the EU Cohesion policy and EU funded projects in the region. In addition, participants will learn about the wildlife tracks they can find in the area throughout the day, as well as how to gather noninvasive genetic samples.

After the introductory presentations, participants will split into 6 groups and search for wildlife tracks between 10 am and 5 pm. Afterwards, the groups will share their findings, which will be sent to Biotechnical faculty, University of Ljubljana, for analysis. In addition, there will be time to socialise during a dinner together. The event will close at 7 pm.

The participants should definitely bring hiking boots, gainters, warm clothes including hat and gloves and a water bottle. To join us at the event, please register here. For more information, please email us. We look forward to seeing you there!
