Connecting protected areas: the P2R Green Corridor Project

The Flora and Fauna need green corridors to overcome human barriers. There are  some successful examples of green corridor projects in the world and in Europe. The Netzwerk Naturwald  (Nature Forest Network) in Austria tries to connect the Nationalpark Kalkalpen with the Nationalpark Gesäuse and the Nature Forst Dürrenstein. The
Great
Mountain
Ecological
 Corridor
 Cantabric‐
Pyrenees
–Alps
 &
 Western Iberia
connected the wolf habitats in Portugal, Switzerland, Italy, France and Spain. The Green Band in Germany connects the north to the south and is based upon the former death zone of the inner German border. One of the most ambitious projects in the work ist the Yellowstone to Yukon project.. Its aim is to preserve and maintain the wildlife, native plants, Wilderness and natural processes of the mountainous region from Yellowstone National Park to the Yukon Territory. Y2Y´s vision is an interconnected system of wild lands and waters stretching from Yellowstone to Yukon, harmonizing the needs of people with those of nature.

In Europe we should think about a similar green corridor project extending the Great

Western Iberia all the way to the Carpathians in Romania. This project, lets name it Portugal to Romania P2R, would connect the two largest wolf populations right across Europe. Would you support such a project and how could we get this started? Lets hear your ideas!
