Cornwall taking a stand to help against Climate Change
Cornwall Council have announced the trailblazing project “Forests for Cornwall” to create 20 000 acre forest to combat climate change. The project aims to make Cornwall carbon-neutral by 2030, following the councils declaration of a climate emergency at the beginning of 2019. This would set Cornwall 20 years ahead of the United Kingdoms target to be carbon-neutral by 2050.

The local cabinet unanimously backed the project. Through this project, roughly 32 square miles of trees will be planted (approx 20 000 acres) over the next 10 years. This is further supported by a shake-up of existing policies to promote renewable energies, environmental growth and continue to make homes more energy efficient.
Climate change – a problem for everyone
Climate change, also referred to as climate overheating, is a serious problem that needs facing. At the time of writing, 16 countries have officially recognised and acknowledged the crisis. Moreover, Germany has declared to give 10 million to South African countries to assist in order to fight climate change.
However, some continue to exacerbate the climate emergency. Recently Brazil has had a surge in their rate of deforestation. Moreover, the president of Brazil (known as captain chainsaw) is threatening to leave The Paris Agreement. Much like Trump previously said when he came into office.
