Happy New Year from the European Wilderness Society

Dear supporters, wilderness friends, and project partners,

As we welcome 2025, we reflect on an inspiring 2024 filled with meaningful projects such as LIFEstockProtect, LIFE Parnassius Apollo2020, Biodiversity in the Forest, Diversity on the Alpine Meadows, and Horizon ALFAWetlands and Smartourism.

Over the past 10 years, we’ve accomplished incredible milestones:

• Published over 2,500 articles on wilderness and related topics
• Advanced coexistence and stakeholder processes
• Organized three multi-day Wild Art events
• Hosted four Wilderness Days conferences

The year 2025 will bring new opportunities and challenges with the implementation of the EU Restoration Law. This significant legislation will impact landowners, conservationists, the agricultural sector, and governments. Together, we look forward to supporting peaceful and collaborative pathways that balance the preservation of livelihoods with the interests of all stakeholders.

We are excited to embark on another year of progress and impact in wilderness and nature conservation.
