Little Sydney: Protecting Europe Nature

Our Society has just received an important news from the Organising Committee of the so-called “Little Sydney” event, which is going to be a major protected area event in Europe in 2015. Let us promote the conference by re-publishing the information.

Half year after the Sydney World Parks Congress (WPC) the town of Hainburg, Austria, close to two central European capitals, Vienna and Bratislava, located at the entrance to the Donau-Auen National Park, will host the IUCN/WCPA major European protected area event: “Little Sydney”: Protecting Europe’s Nature conference. Around 300 participants from all Europe and distinguished guests from other continents, protected area experts, practitioners and policy makers and representatives of civil society will discuss how to best address WPC outcomes in the European context and how to govern and manage protected areas with respect and justice, to engage and inspire a new generation of custodians. «Little Sydney« will offer a broad constituency to make their own promise and commitments to the Promise of Sydney in the period of ten years and beyond after the World Parks Congress.
