We are excited to announce that from 19th to 23rd October 2020, the European Wilderness Society will host the first International Wilderness Week. Expect five days packed with presentations, discussions, workshops, live excursions, reports from community events, Q&As, join-in-activities and much more!
The first International Wilderness Week is an one of a kind event. Lockdowns around the world have forced many of us to take their conferences, presentations and meetings online. We are making virtue of necessity and have ceated an event that is accessible live for everyone around the world with internet access. Every single of the five days will be packed with 15 hours of content. This means wherever you may be, you can tune in at whatever time suits you and actively participate in the Wilderness Week.

Coming together for our world’s Wilderness
We know that there are people everywhere, who work hard work to preserve Wilderness in their homes. That is why the European Wilderness Society has been working from its beginning to connect Wilderness advocates in Europe and beyond. Our international projects, The Vlado Vancura Wilderness Academy, a webinar series with speakers from Nepal and South Africa and the European Wilderness Network were created in this spirit. The International Wilderness Week is the next step on this journey. We will have speakers and participants from all continents – maybe even Antarctica?! – who will present the beauty of their local Wilderness, shine a light on the issues they face and inspire the audience with solutions they develope or already implement.
We are proud to create a one of a kind event to bring together Wilderness advocates from around the world. The International Wilderness Week will for the first time address Wilderness issues from all continents and create a worldwide community.
So, what can you expect? Whatever you think of! The International Wilderness Week is going to be a festival for Wilderness advocates from all over the week. This means we want Wilderness advocates like you to bring this idea to life! You want to present your work on Wilderness? Or have a Wilderness story to tell? An idea how we can bring Wilderness into the virtual world?
Then fill out our submission form and become part of this project!
