WILDArt exhibition in Tamsweg
The European Wilderness Society opened the WILDArt exhibition together with many visitors in Tamsweg, Austria in February 2019. The exhibition included a great collection of art work, related to Wilderness and wildlife. A selection of art work from the WILDArt Plein Air event, which took place last August in Synevyr (Ukraine), was presented here. In addition, the exhibition hosted art work from other projects that the European Wilderness Society organised last year. Several WILDArtists joined the official opening in Tamsweg, and celebrated the event with the European Wilderness Society team and locals.

Celebrating Wilderness
The exhibition marks also the opening of the Anniversary Year for Wilderness in Europe and the world. This year, the Wilderness Act from the United States is celebrating its 55th year of existence. It has been an inspiring example, which led to the uniform definition of Wilderness in Europe, exactly 10 years ago. On top of that, the European Wilderness Society is celebrating the 5th anniversary of its own existence and the European Wilderness Network. Throughout this year, more celebration events will be organised to look back and look forward on the Wilderness movement that continues to grow and expand in Europe.
International audience
Three participants from the WILDArt event in Ukraine travelled to Austria to attend the official opening of the exhibition. Ruslan Gleb, Ukrainian impressionist and painter from the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve, came over to share his wild experiences. Also, Svitlana Kyrlyk, experienced Plein Air artist from Ukraine, joined the opening. The beautiful surrounding Biosphere Reserve Lungau inspired her to create even more artwork during the visit. Furthermore, Henk Kuipers, photographer from The Netherlands, attended the celebrations and met with local interested people attending the opening. The local mayor of Tamsweg and the European Wilderness Society warmly welcomed all artists and audience.
Exhibition on tour
The exhibition stayed in Tamsweg for two months, until the 22nd of April. After that, the exhibitioncontinued on its tour to Italy and Germany. After the successful 2019 WILDArt event in Majella, new art works were added to the collection.
