Wilderness Policy

Wilderness as an indicator in biodiversity strategy!

National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) are the principal instruments for implementing the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) at the national level. The Convention requires countries to prepare a national biodiversity strategy and to ensure that this strategy is mainstreamed into the planning and activities of all those sectors whose activities can have an impact on biodiversity. To date, a total of 180 (93%) Parties have developed NBSAPs .

It is worth to recognize that the German Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union, NABU  interestingly used Wilderness designation as an indicator for the NBSAP!!
