6th International Symposium for Research in Protected Areas

National Parks Austria and Hohe Tauern National Park are pleased to announce the 6th International Symposium for Research in Protected Areas, 2-4 November 2017.

The European network of protected areas has grown exponentially over the past couple decades. It is very clear that the protected areas are the main tool to protect European biodiversity. Irreplaceable role in this process is playing the category of protected area: Wilderness.

Hohe Tauern National Park Salzburg is one of the very first certified European Wilderness. The outcome of the International verification process carried out in 2015 was verification almost 9,000 ha of Alpine Wilderness at the top of Hohe Tauern Mountains.

National Parks Austria and particularly Hohe Tauern National Park Salzburg is well-known due to systematic research and monitoring activities recently also very much focused on Wilderness.

All this subjects will be intensively discussed at the 6th International Symposium for Research in Protected Areas which will be held at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Salzburg, Austria.

Call for themed session can be organized as a series of presentations, as a workshop or as a chaired discussion and will last 1.5 hours (or 2×1.5 hours).
