We are looking for two dedicated persons between the age of 18-30 from an eligible ESC country to join the European Wilderness Society in our main office in Tamsweg, the heart of the beautiful UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Salzburger Lungau in the Austrian Alps.
Your volunteering could start from the 01st of October and last up to 12 months.
We are looking for volunteers with good language skills of English and preferably German in order to integrate smoothly into living and volunteering environment, since we are an international team of Austrians, Italians, Ukrainians, Canadians, Germans, Czechs, Slovakians.
Our former volunteers came from more than 8 European countries and showed that English language knowledge supported their well-being. Our experienced team consists of passionate people: Wilderness specialists, nature conservationists, researchers and scientists, legal advisors and Wilderness advocates. Therefore, prior experience is definitely not a must, but welcome!
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
This volunteer opportunity is a part of the European Solidarity Corps and offers financial support from the European Union.
During your volunteering you will receive a monthly allowance to cover your food and pocket money as well as some support for mobility, activities and language learning. You will have free accommodation as well as holidays and health insurance. Your travel will be covered according your volunteering agreement. You will share a fully equipped apartment with 4 single rooms (one for you), a big living room area and kitchen, TV and free WIFI within walking distance of the office. Tamsweg is the beautiful town, that offers supermarkets, sport facilities and even a small cinema! It can be easily reached by train/bus from Salzburg/Vienna.
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
During your volunteering of max. 38 hours/week, you will have the opportunity to:
- develop professionally and personally
- be involved with many cultures and languages of the team members
- assist in project developments and event management
- support the experts implementing online and offline communication strategies
- get training in content creation for online and offline communication
- join the European Wilderness Society team on field trips, and much more.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
It is likely your time to apply now, if YOU:
- have a good knowledge of English and preferably German
- would like to contribute to the goals of a Wilderness and environmental advocacy organization
- are interested in promoting nature with podcasts, video clips, little postings and photos, drawings, stories, since in winter time, nature conservation consists a lot of indoor tasks.

I did not want to miss out on my time I had as a volunteer at the European Wilderness Society. I made a lot of great experiences, learned many new skills and grew personally.
I gained valuable insights into the activities of the European Wilderness Society, nature conservation efforts, and the captivating history and attractions of the Lungau area.
