European Wilderness Society and its partners celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the LIFE Programme!
Today, on the 21st of May 2022, European Wilderness Society, its LIFEstockProtect and LIFE Apollo2020 projects partners celebrate the 30th anniversary of the LIFE Programme. During all these years, the Programme has supported impactful environmental protection, nature conservation and climate action across Europe, paving the way towards a more sustainable future. With a budget of about €5 billion, it has so far successfully supported more than 5,500 projects – including our LIFEstockProtect and LIFE Apollo2020! Moreover, we are sure it will continue to do so even more in the upcoming years.
We would like as well to emphasise the good work of all LIFE projects in tackling environmental and climate issues, while showing citizens the benefits these projects provide for their daily lives.
To more years and projects like these ahead of us.
As an international team, we would like to congratulate LIFE Programme on our various European languages:
- Happy birthday LIFE!
- Alles Gute zum Geburtstag LIFE!
- Tanti Auguri LIFE!
- Wszystkiego najlepszego z okazji urodzin LIFE!
- З днем народження LIFE!
- Šťastné narodeniny LIFE!
- Boldog születésnapot LIFE!
- С днем рождения LIFE!
“The European Union has the largest network of protected areas (Natura 2000) in the world and through LIFE we are working to preserve the biodiversity of these areas and support the people who live here. Since 1992, the programme has co-financed thousands of projects on environmental protection.”Angelo Salsi, LIFE Programme Director
