ORF film team in Brandenburg with Knut Kucznik

We were joined again by the ORF team “Am Schauplatz” while visiting Knut Kucznik in Brandenburg. Knut Kucznik is the chairman of the Livestock Guarding Dog Association (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Herdenschutzhunde e.V.) and himself a shepherd with 450 sheep. We discussed the effectiveness of livestock protection and what Austria can learn from Brandenburg, the German province with the most wolves. Knut presented his Maremma Abruzzese Dogs and showed how they successfully protect his Livestock which is fenced in with 90cm high Flexinet mobile fences. He has not lost a single sheep in the last years to the wolves, while neighbouring shepherds have lost several.
