Pierre Ibisch, Markus Waldherr, Max Rossberg and Anni Henning discussed some of the next steps of the European Beech Forest Network including training, marketing, project ideas, funding opportunities and student exchange programmes.
Especially interesting is the idea of an international student exchange programme with the United States National Park Service. The idea is to invite up to five students from the United States to a working internship in different European certified Wilderness areas and in return five students from the HNE Eberswalde will experience first hand Wilderness stewardship and its challenges in North America.
In addition several project ideas were discussed to be developed all focusing on improving the management of the more than 120 European Beech Forest Network members.
The new website of the European Beech Forest Network will also go online in the next few weeks.
