Natura 2000 in a commercial Beech Forest

I attended a great workshop run by the Kuratorium Wald on the ÖBF premises in Purkersdorf focusing on the challenges of Natura 2000 designation in commercially used Beech Forests. The real challenge here lies in the imprecise nature of the management plans and therefore the lack of clear guidance on what is allowed to do and what is not allowed. The forest owners are demanding legally binding guidelines but are also demanding a clear input into these.
