Linking Wilderness and Sustainable Tourism

During the first week of February at the National Park Zacharovanyy Kray, there was a meeting of the cooperating partners of Zacharovanyy kray and European Wilderness Society.  The event also marked the start of new partnership with Carpathian Biosphere Reserve.

The chairman of the European Wilderness Society, Max A. E. Rossberg and the new Deputy Chairman Vlado Vancura reiterated the commitment of the European Wilderness Society to support initiatives and projects of the local partners regarding Wilderness conservation, improved management of the protected area, development of sustainable tourism and other activities for the communities of the Trans-Carpathian region. Mr. Rossberg emphasized the importance of creating linkage between Wilderness and sustainable tourism development in particular regarding the potential and situation in this protected area.
