Official presentation of the UNESCO World Heritage site’s new components in Ukraine
On the 25th of January, 2018 the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine will present the new Ukrainian components of the primeval and old-growth forests of the recently extended UNESCO World Heritage site “Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe”. The event will take place in the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve, Ukraine.

Strengthening Wilderness protection
Newly extended 9 Ukrainian components are embedded in the National Nature Park “Synevyr”, “Zacharovanyy kray” ,“Podilski Tovtry” and also nature reserves “Gorgany” and “Roztochha”.
In total, the UNESCO World Heritage site “Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe” covers 12 countries, 3 of which are Carpathian and 3 are Alpine countries. Some of the areas are also members of European Wilderness Network and/or European Beech Forest Network. This UNESCO natural World Heritage hereby also contributes to the protection of Europe’s last Wilderness.
