Dublin: 2024 European Capital of Smart Tourism

SMARTOUR or the SMART Tourism Skills Initiative ERASMUS+ project is contributing to the further SMART tourism development.

The main objective of the SMARTOUR is the production of the comprehensive educational materials for adult educators that will allow to promote and organize smart tourism development among municipalities, organizations and businesses that are involved in tourism development and activities.

One of the SMART tourism development projects is the European Capital of Smart Tourism.

This year, Dublin has been honored with the title of European Capital of Smart Tourism, a testament to its innovative and forward-thinking approaches to urban development. This prestigious accolade highlights Dublin’s commitment to creating a sustainable, technologically advanced, and equitable environment for all its residents and visitors.

Sustainability

Dublin’s journey towards sustainability has been marked by significant efforts in reducing carbon emissions and promoting green living. The city has implemented a variety of initiatives to enhance environmental conservation, such as extensive recycling programs and urban green spaces. One of the most notable projects is the Dublin City Climate Action Plan, which aims to achieve a 40% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030. The plan includes measures to increase energy efficiency in buildings, expand renewable energy use, and promote sustainable transport options. 

Mobility
