4th Annual Women’s Leadership in Conservation Online Seminar
Organized by Colorado State University’s Center for Protected Area Management in collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service International Programs, the program focuses on addressing gender inequality and equipping women to lead effectively in biodiversity conservation, climate change, forest management, and sustainable development and it is a unique opportunity for women professionals from around the world to enhance their leadership skills and drive meaningful change in conservation.
Challenges for women in conservation
Women in conservation face numerous challenges, including workplace discrimination, unequal opportunities, and limited access to leadership roles. This seminar highlights the importance of addressing these issues by empowering women to overcome barriers and achieve greater influence in their fields. Participants will gain the tools and confidence to lead teams, influence policies, and achieve impactful conservation outcomes in their communities and globally.
The importance of seminar
Designed as a 13-week capacity-building program, this seminar offers a blend of self-paced learning and live discussions with experts and peers. The content provides practical tools to improve gender equity, foster leadership growth, and integrate gender-responsive approaches into conservation projects.

Iryna Shchoka from the European Wilderness Society had joined such Seminar in 2022. She had a chance to deepen her knowledge on conceptual frameworks of gender in conservation, leadership, gender equality in organizations, and practical tools for mainstreaming gender in conservation projects. It was also an opportunity to exchange experiences with seminar professors and other participants during live sessions.
