New volunteer – Jana!
Hey, my name is Jana and I will be volunteering with the European Wilderness Society.
After my education time, where I had always noticed the idealistic ideas my fellow students had regarding motivation and implementation of sustainability projects, felt a little lost finding somewhere where I would feel like I could use the knowledge I had learned and have an impact.
Volunteering with the European Wilderness Society I am hoping to get more of a hands on experience and realistic approach for projects with the European Wildernes Society. I am excited to contribute to the projects, especially the Schmetterlingsreich project as I was working on a project which aimed at restoring a traditional orchard and seeing if and how the changes in abiotic conditions and other factor affected the butterfly biodiversity. Other than that, I am more than excited to experience life in Austria, and to explore Lungau with its beautiful nature but also its cultural life and get to know the people living here.
I have lived in multiple countries in Europe, therefore I feel very connected to Europe. Now having the possibility to work with the European Wilderness Society through the European Solidarity Corps is a dream come true for me. I always had this idea of supporting projects like LIFE Apollo2020 or LIFEStockProtect but I always thought it was a non-viable idea. I am looking forward to a year full of putting my knowledge to work and most likely learning a lot more.
