Carpathian Day 

Carpathian Day is celebrated on or around 26 of September. It is aimed to promote rich culture, wonderful nature and dedicated people, as well as various initiatives in the region. This is also a time to think and discuss how anyone can join and support environment protection and sustainable development in Carpathians and beyond.

According to the Decision 7/19 of the Carpathian Convention´s Conference of the Parties, Carpathian Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Expert Network is the main entity coordinating the organization and promotion of Carpathian Day. ESD network is also supported by the Carpathian Convention Secretariat, the Carpathian Network of Protected Areas and the Science for the Carpathians Network.

Carpathian Day events

On the Carpathian Convention website one can find various registered events, dedicated to Carpathian Day celebration, as well as to register own event. Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine are part of the Carpathian region, therefore variety of the events is really broad.

You can find:

  • Thematic hikes
  • Educative indoor activities
  • Online conferences
  • Environmental educators´ workshops
  • Students visits to the thematic station in the protected areas.

Respect Nature in Carpathians

Using this opportunity, European Wilderness Society is also reminding, that safety and efforts to reduce our impact on the nature are very important for the environment protection and our own future. Therefore we are calling you to follow Respect Nature principals, visit natural areas and enjoy Carpathians Day outdoors!

By the way, Respect Nature educational materials are available on some of the Carpathian languages!
